    What this call funds

This call funds demonstration projects that build regional supply chains for sustainable solid biofuel (from residues and wastes) and use it in high-efficiency combined heat and power (CHP) plants of 10-30 MWe. Projects should show the whole chain works: sourcing biomass sustainably and locally, upgrading it into quality fuel, and burning it cleanly and efficiently to supply power and heat to local industry, without harming biodiversity, soil or other bio-based sectors. It also wants a solid business case for scaling up and replicating the model elsewhere, with attention to social science input and possibly support for Ukraine's reconstruction.

    Who wins this

A consortium involving CHP plant operators, biomass suppliers/foresters and industrial energy users that can run a real regional biofuel-to-CHP demonstration at TRL 6-7 with a credible commercialisation plan.
