Integrated Approaches for Retrofitting Infrastructures with Innovative Energy Storage Technologies
ENERGY · HORIZON-IA · TRL 6–8 · Needs partners
What this call funds
This call funds demonstration projects that combine new or improved energy storage technologies with the retrofitting of old, obsolete infrastructure (like decommissioned power plants, old dams, former industrial sites, or fossil fuel facilities). The goal is to create cost-effective, flexible, and sustainable energy storage capacity while reusing existing assets instead of building new ones, and to improve energy system security and circularity. Projects must also address environmental impact, security by design, and engage with the BRIDGE initiative.
energy storage · renewable energy · smart grids · circular economy · energy efficiency
Who wins this
This call suits consortia of energy companies, technology developers, and infrastructure owners aiming to demonstrate at scale how retrofitted obsolete infrastructure can host innovative energy storage systems.
