What this call funds
This call funds research and innovation projects that improve food safety across Africa, especially in the informal food trade sector, to support safer food, reduce losses from mycotoxins, and boost local and regional trade. Projects should also help informal traders and SMEs move toward compliance with food safety standards, develop early-warning and risk-assessment systems, and support innovative business ideas including through small grants to third parties like startups and researchers.

General conditions General conditions 1. Admissibility conditions: described in Annex A and Annex E of the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes Proposal page limits and layout: described in Part B of the Application Form available in the Submission System 2. Eligible countries: described in Annex B of the Work Programme General Annexes A number of non-EU/non-Associated Countries that are not automatically eligible for funding have made specific provisions for making funding available for their participants in Horizon Europe projects. See the information in the Horizon Europe Programme Guide. The following additional eligibility criteria apply: at least three partners from Africa and at least two from the same region as defined by the African Union (https://au.int/en/member_states/countryprofiles2). Due to the scope of this topic, legal entities established in in all African Union member states* are exceptionally eligible for Union funding. * "African Union member states" includes countries whose membership has been temporarily suspended. International organisations with headquarters in a Member State or associated country are exceptionally eligible for funding. The following additional eligibility criteria apply: the proposals must apply the multi-actor approach. See definition of the multi-actor approach in the introduction to this work programme part. The Joint Research Centre (JRC) may participate as member of the consortium selected for funding. 3. Other eligibility conditions: described in Annex B of the Work Programme General Annexes 4.
