Sustainable, inclusive, affordable and beautiful solutions for thermal comfort in buildings
Beautiful, inclusive and sustainable neighbourhoods for communities · HORIZON-IA · TRL 5–7 · Needs partners
What this call funds
This call funds projects that develop and test practical, low-tech ways to keep buildings comfortable in hot weather without relying on air conditioning — drawing on traditional building wisdom, nature-based solutions, bioclimatic design, and frugal innovation. Projects must build and demonstrate at least two such solutions in real buildings (including one heritage building) in two different climate zones and countries, showing they cut lifecycle emissions and costs while being accessible and visually appealing. The goal is to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions from cooling while protecting vulnerable groups from heat.
climate adaptation · energy efficiency · construction built environment · sustainable materials · smart cities · circular economy
Who wins this
A multidisciplinary consortium spanning architecture, engineering, cultural heritage, and community organisations across at least two countries with different climates, ready to pilot and demonstrate innovative low-energy thermal comfort solutions in real buildings.
