What this call funds
This call funds research projects that set up 'living labs' where farmers, scientists, local authorities and communities work together to reduce nutrient pollution (nitrogen and phosphorus) from agricultural soils that causes eutrophication in nearby rivers and water bodies. Projects should establish four to five living labs across at least three countries, each focused on a small river catchment, to co-create and test practical soil management solutions, monitor soil and water health, and design ways to keep the labs running after EU funding ends. Around two projects will be funded with a total budget of 24 million euros.

A number of non-EU/non-Associated Countries that are not automatically eligible for funding have made specific provisions for making funding available for their participants in Horizon Europe projects. Legal and financial set-up of the grants Beneficiaries may provide financial support to third parties to facilitate active involvement of smaller actors (e.g. land managers and owners such as farmers, SMEs or civil societies) in one or more of the living labs of the project. The support to third parties can only be provided in the form of grants (further to calls or, if duly justified, without a call for proposals).
