What this call funds
This call funds a long-term joint EU-Africa programme on climate change research, run as a co-funding mechanism that will launch joint calls for projects over 5-6 years. It aims to build lasting research collaboration, improve climate data and services, boost resilience to climate change in Africa, and strengthen African representation in international climate science and policy discussions.

General conditions 1. Admissibility Conditions: Proposal page limit and layout described in Annex A and Annex E of the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes. Proposal page limits and layout: described in Part B of the Application Form available in the Submission System. 2. Eligible Countries described in Annex B of the Work Programme General Annexes. A number of non-EU/non-Associated Countries that are not automatically eligible for funding have made specific provisions for making funding available for their participants in Horizon Europe projects. See the information in the Horizon Europe Programme Guide. 3. Other Eligible Conditions If projects use satellite-based earth observation, positioning, navigation and/or related timing data and services, beneficiaries must make use of Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS (other data and services may additionally be used). Due to the scope of this topic, legal entities established in all African Union member states are exceptionally eligible for Union funding. Legal and financial set-up of the grants The funding rate is up to 50% of the eligible costs. Beneficiaries may provide financial support to third parties (FSTP) in the form of grants. Financial support provided by the participants to third parties is one of the primary activities of the action in order to be able to achieve its objectives. Given the type of action and its level of ambition, the maximum amount to be granted to each third party is EUR 500 000. This is justified by the research-intensive nature of the action because cascading grants linked to FSTP will support concrete R&I projects aimed at boosting climate preparedness in the African Union. However, if the objectives of the action would otherwise be impossible or overly difficult (and duly justified in the proposal) the maximum amount may be higher. described in Annex G of the Work Programme General Annexes.
